MCP's not working in Ask mode

Not sure if this is a design choice, but MCP’s are not available for me when the agent is in Ask mode.

Please either fix this, or provide a disclaimer so users don’t need to spend half an hour to figure out why the mcp servers aren’t working.

Steps to Reproduce

Open agent, go to ask mode, try to use an mcp tool

Expected Behavior

MCP tools should be available in all modes

Hey @chriselderxyz

Thanks for the report. Some models (Opus 4.5) are quite upfront that it can’t use MCP servers in Ask Mode, while Composer… doesn’t seem to know as much! This has a few other side effects, like when trying to apply specific rules based on the mode.

I’ve passed this to the team!
