how do I fix this!!!
We pay 300-500$ every month and we cannot work with this efficiently when we have a new ui every week. We switched to claude code lately and are replacing cursor step by step.. We dont need this any more. Claude caude is awesome with max plan. No reason to use cursor anymore
lol I was just trying to start another agent thread frustrated because the button moved so I came here to vent and this is the hot topic on the forum. I admire that cursor ships fast and understand you have to crack a few eggs to make an omelette but there needs to be some sort of balance here. Some of these changes are unnecessary especially when its not a 10x experience improvement don’t see the value.
Yes please stop adding features for the sake of adding stuff. It’s a mess.
So freaking annoying, just stop it
Haha… wow this explains a lot ![]()
- No strict roles
Instead of dedicated PMs, the team distributes product thinking across engineers and designers. People focus on their strengths and lean on AI to fill in the gaps.
This does explain a lot.
Also really interesting that I somehow managed to guess their whole workflow and core issue, just didn’t quite believe it was really that simple.
They have no long term goal, no clear concept of future capability, no roadmap.
They just do stuff hap hazard and push it out.
This probably also makes it pretty much impossible to expand the dev team with high capability developers, because anyone that actually knows what they are doing will disassociate when told their codebase is just ideas and concepts glued together with AI, no one is quite sure how most of it works anymore and they have no real future plan for anything in the first place.
They just do stuff.
I’m sure this will be sustainable.
Understand the feedback and working to minimize UI changes going forward.
I want to offer a different approach. Indeed the amount of changes are making my life miserable, especially the last one, making me question the use of the IDE but not making changes and progress is also not an option I believe. A better approach would be instead of you guys breaking the flow of all engineers every few days, allow the changes to be configurable. Let the devs decide what their flow should be. Add the configurations somewhere, do not make breaking changes, make them opt-in!

How great was this feature before? Why was it removed in the new version
Did they really delete it?
Why are they making me use version 1.7 ![]()
Yes, they definitely deleted it
I couldn’t agree more! I really want to figure out how they decided to change the UI like this? What’s the point?
noticed this video.. no wonder the quality is dropping in the past several months - the first 5 seconds is all you need to watch - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3JiVDYL20G4
I installed updates on my Mac, and now the UI has changed. I’ve already spent an hour trying to revert everything back. If this happens again, I may stop using Cursor, as it’s quite frustrating.
It is also very important that you respect your user’s settings, and not reset them every time a new release is pushed out. I don’t even know how many times I’ve had to fix my settings the last two weeks, too many to remember now. We configure Cursor to fit our needs, and having all our personalized choices undone every time the Cursor team decides to change a little thing here or there, is extremely frustrating, not to mention a frequent waste of time as we reconfigure to our needs.
On the settings front, you guys are introducing a lot of new major features, like this diff/review mode, that many of us DO NOT like. Instead of shoving new features down your users throats, it would be far more optimal to add them, but make each new feature OPT-IN! That would not only solve the problem of a constantly changing UI, but also alleviate the non-trivial frustrations your users have when you remove things they fundamentally depend on, and in their place force them to use things they do not want, like, or even feel safe using. Diff/Review and Sandbox Terminal, are two fundamentally MAJOR features that have really rankled a lot of your users. They should not have just been shoved on us…they should have been feature flagged, opt-in, and in particular: OPTIONAL!
If you take this tak, then I think you will ultimately find that your users remain happier. At not being forced to constantly change their workflows and constantly fiddle with Cursor, but also…at not being treated as glorified beta testers…a role they PAY FOR despite not asking to fill said role, BTW… With an opt-in feature-flagged approach, those who DO CHOOSE to TEST new features for you guys, actually have the choice.
I’m not so upset about the making changes every week thing. I expect that on early adopter software but can you please stop trying to make “Chat on the left” a thing? Or make it configurable? I’d love it to replace my terminal keybind / location. Left/right is just not a good placement in an IDE.
My problem is that in one project I continue to have the old UI, in other project I used to until I switched to Agent view by mistake. Big mistake. I can no longer switch to Editor view, neither in top left corner or in Cursor settings. The buttons do nothing. The new UI took about 5 minutes to setup. Sure, no problem. But it is buggy and why is it only applied in some projects?? Please unify this, I dont care which you choose, just make sure there is just one working view.
How is this early adopter software still? Last year, very early ‘25 maybe. We are on version 2.2 now, and undoubtedly 2.3 soon enough. This is a product people pay a lot of money each month for. That alone, is reason enough for the Cursor team to stop treating their PAYING CUSTOMERS as free pool of beta testers.
I’ve corrected your sentence. Beta versions usually contain fewer critical bugs improvements.
