The constant, frequent modifications are insane. What kind of product needs to be updated multiple times a day? Do you guys have anxiety or phobias? If I hadn’t already paid, I wouldn’t have stopped using this crappy stuff from you guys long ago.

Yep I had to rollback to 1.7 because I upgraded to 2.2 for the mac and it was nonfunctional. None of the buttons work. By the way - why do they use the same file name for the installation packages for ALL the releases ? Anyway probably going to cancel my subscription soon because their app is so horrible.
For anyone interested in going back to old EDITOR mode you can go to this set this setting in “Cursor Settings” that will bring back the status bar a normal editor UI
By the way I cant believe the Cursor team thinks it was a good idea to force all its users into “AGENTS” mode. If we started using Cursor which was a VSCode editor fork it was because we want an EDITOR not an AI agents wrapper.
I have nothing against new features suggestions but please stop forcing new UIs or features that completely alter our workflows.
It seems that the cursor saves the layout settings for each project. Try opening the project and then switching the layout. I had to do this in 5 projects.
I was coming here to post just this, but you beat me to it. I’m on early-access releases and just got an update this morning, but I also just found this setting this morning, so I’m not sure if this setting is available for everyone or if they would need to opt-in to early-release to use this setting.

First of all, quit complaining. You sound like a child in an aisle at a toy store.
They’ve built Cursor wrapped around VSCode, which already had a UI, not built by Cursor team.
Cursor will have to update the UI based on when they roll out new features. I happen to enjoy a refreshing way to program. You will have to adapt or you will be forgotten.
Pro tip: You can save your settings in a JSON file and within 2 seconds load it back into Cursor. You don’t need to spend all day resetting your preferences. Instead of venting your frustrations on a forum, be smarter.

Interesting advice. And does this also work with buttons that have been removed from the GUI, which is what we’re “complaining” about here?
And are you absolutely sure that I need to write a separate script that will first restore my settings, then launch the IDE, and then back up the settings? 
You don’t need to write a script, although you can.
Have you ever been to another country where they drive on the opposite side of the road? Do you go on the DOT’s forum and complain?

Personally, I’m complaining about the fact that I’m paying $60/month + extra usage expecting to see a certain consistent level of service, which may include non-critical bugs, but not ones that make me waste over an hour a week fighting with an IDE I’m paying $60/month for.
On top of that, I’m planning to switch to the $200 plan soon, but I can’t be sure the IDE won’t just break to hell the very next day, and that investing in Codex CLI or Claude Code wouldn’t be a calmer option.
Even now, since version 1.5, there’s a bug in the search tool that the developers don’t care about, and I and a small number of other users also have a bug in all 2.x versions that disables the legacy terminal, which is necessary for any normal AI-assisted engineer, and the team is also silent about this problem, which is why I have to work in Cursor v1.7

I was in ‘Agent’ mode and had made it look like Editor mode because I don’t really know what was going on.
You can get rid of the sliding in from the right ‘Agents’ panel that goes over the chat scroll bar if you switch to ‘Editor’ mode, as the 
icon appears again and all is good in the world.
It is infuriating as hell when I have to reconfigure the the editor every week or so after an update. On friday I had to spend my precious time reorganizing the workspace back to what it was because you just wanted to throw everything on it’s head for ■■■■■ and giggles. And what was wrong with the + for adding a new agent chat for instance, I noticed today that even that was changed. This is not how you make good software, jesus christ…
This is a ludicrous analogy. Cursor changing every day, is NOT correlated with going to another country where they drive on a different side of the road. This is a ridiculous analogy that makes absolutely zero sense!
Is Cursor the “country”? If so, then the proper analogy would be that Country suddenly telling ITS OWN drivers they have to drive on the other side of the road, out of the blue, one day. Then the next day, that same country removes everyone’s friggin steering wheel!! The day after that everyone is told they can’t drive until they replace all their wheels with hex-wheels. Then, the day after THAT….!!!
THAT is a relevant analogy here!

“Agent mode” is gone and the Agent pane opens by default on the right instead of Chat. I do not want or appreciate this behavior.

Now, leaving the mouse idle on or to the right of the window border causes Agent to ‘pop in’ (overlapping the prompt I’m working on) until I move my mouse away, then it automatically disappears again. This is absolutely horrible UX as it covers up the prompt I am in the middle of typing. If I want it open I will open it.
I don’t see how anyone would actually like this approach, but please at least make it an option to turn this behavior off as it has already interrupted me about 5 times in the past 30 mins of using Cursor this morning.

Agent view is still there and Agent pane opens on the left, try CMD E to switch between IDE and Agent view.
The main issue is that the agent pane slides in when hovering anywhere on the right side of the agent’s text window. It’s so annoying and completely unnecessary behavior.
