ICYMI, Microsoft recently open-sourced Copilot and other AI extensions, but Cursor is still on VSCode 1.96 from November last year (older than every other fork). 
Not being able use any extension that requires a VSCode version newer than 2024 is a big disadvantage vs. editors that can use their own native AI features + AI Toolkit + Copilot (and anything built on top of them)
Merging changes from an upstream repo seems like the type of task Cursor should be able to handle.
