Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Describe the Bug

The model list is apparently sorted randomly.
I can understand why you might place Composer or Grok first.
But the rest list of the list is unsorted and this makes it especially annoying to use or, eg, notice that a newer model is offered

Steps to Reproduce

Open model list, ask yourself if this display is usable

Expected Behavior

Sorted in any kind of order - alphabetical with cursor first-party models first would be fine.

The model list isn’t random - it’s a curated ranking (newer / more capable models toward the top, older ones lower), with Auto pinned first. There aren’t visible section headers, so it can look unordered at a glance.

Two things that help right now:

  1. Open the model selector and start typing a model name to filter the list.
  2. In Cursor Settings → Models, turn off models you don’t use so the list stays shorter.

Alphabetical with first-party models first is a fair ask. We’ll be tracking this thread to gauge interest, which helps our product team prioritize. If others want clearer ordering too, chime in here.
