The connection was interrupted repeatedly without saving progress, so the agent stopped to avoid repeating the same work. Retry to continue from the last saved state.
Agent turn stopped after repeated resume attempts made no progress
RetriableError: Agent turn stopped after repeated resume attempts made no progress

Additional Information

I’m getting full green in Network Diagnostic, so Cursor server side isn’t realted to this problem.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Yes - Cursor is unusable

This is horrible

Hello Sam,

I do have the same issue for windows system as well

Hey @Sam01, thanks for the report!

That “Agent stopped retrying” message means the connection between Cursor and our servers dropped twice in a row in the middle of a response, so the agent stopped instead of repeating the same work. Network Diagnostics only runs short checks, so it can pass while long streaming responses keep getting cut off, especially through a VPN or proxy.

Could you try this and tell me what happens:

  1. Open Cursor Settings → Browser & Network → HTTP Compatibility Mode (or search the settings for “HTTP Compatibility”) and switch it to HTTP/1.1.
  2. Fully quit and reopen Cursor.
  3. If you use a VPN or proxy app (for example Clash), turn it off for one test, or switch it to global mode.
  4. Open a new chat, select Claude Opus 5.5 High, and send a prompt that makes the agent read a few files.
  5. Check whether the response still stalls or ends with “Agent stopped retrying”.

If it still happens, please reply with:

  • the request ID for the failed message
  • whether you’re on a VPN or proxy, and which one

@Waleed_Khalid Your issue is likely fixed by upgrading to v3.22. If this does not fix it, please raise a new thread

Hello Colin,
Thanks a lot for your advice so far. It’s back to normal with 3.22 REV update.

Regards,
