am i the only one who has now model reasoning level selection and instead i have several models listed with different level? also fast mode?
i have been looking into cursor employee workshop and looks like he has resoning level selection (white theme screenshot). is there anything i can enable in setting to have the same intead of having model options with differetn resasoning?
Hey, that’s not a bug. You’re seeing the current model picker in 3.2.16. The UI in the workshop video is an older version where the reasoning level was picked with a separate selector next to the model family name. In the current version, all options are shown directly in the list so you can see what’s available. There’s no setting to switch it back.
A quick way to change the reasoning level without opening the dropdown is the shortcut Cmd+Shift+/. It cycles the effort for the current model.
Thanks for the extra info. First, make sure the focus is in the chat input field click the composer input and try Cmd+Shift+/ from there. This shortcut only works when the focus is in the chat, not in the editor.
If the focus is in the chat and nothing still happens, macOS is probably catching it at the system level. In that case, you can take it away from Help: System Settings → Keyboard → Keyboard Shortcuts. Add an entry for Cursor with the menu item name “Show Help menu” and assign it a different shortcut. After that, Cmd+Shift+/ will go to Cursor.
i did that. no help menu does not show up but model cycle not working either. i restarted cursor but when i press shift+cmd+/ nothing happens. and your model dropdown looks slightly different from mine
I need to correct myself from my previous message. I mixed up the old and new picker. It’s actually the other way around: the workshop shows the new picker (model family name plus an Edit button for the reasoning level), but in your screenshot you have the old one, a flat list where the level is baked into the name (gpt-5.5-medium, gpt-5.5-high, etc.).
The new picker is rolling out gradually behind a feature flag, and it hasn’t reached your account yet. That’s why Cmd+Shift+/ doesn’t do anything. That shortcut only works with parameterized models, which you don’t have in your picker yet. There’s nothing you can do on your side, you just need to wait for the gate to be enabled.
You can try signing out and back in (Cursor Settings → Sign out → Sign in). Sometimes that refreshes feature flags, but it’s not guaranteed.
