Modified files still prompt for review until the chat is closed?

Working with the latest update (version 2.2.43) and I am using Editor layout. I am not sure if this is a bug so I figured I would ask here. I seem to be stuck in this state where the IDE always thinks there are files to review. Prior to this update (and since the beginning), the agent would edit your files, you’d review them, click approve, and then the prompt to review your files would go away in the chat window. There would be no difference between files that were unchanged and changed, etc, you just had a blank canvas. Now, there seems to always be a collapsible window at the bottom of the chat (above the entry field) that shows modified files, and when I click on them it brings up the Review tab.

Is this just the new paradigm when in editor mode and working with chats? The changes sort of stay active until that chat is finally closed?

Hey, thanks for the report.

This is a known issue, and the team is already working on a fix. A similar case was recently confirmed here: Auto Mode Ignores Ask Mode and Tries to Perform File Creation

If you have the Request ID for any failing runs (Chat context menu > Copy Request ID), please share it. That will help the team debug this faster.

Hey Dean, maybe I am missing something but that linked bug does not seem related at all? Again it does not appear that anything is failing, and it’s not modifying files it shouldn’t. It just seems like the chat session is always in a state of “needs review” until it’s closed. The button at the bottom of the window is always prompting for review, despite having already clicked “keep all”:

Thanks for the correction, you’re right, I shared the wrong link.

This is a known issue with the review panel in 2.2.x. Files can stay in the “modified files” list even after “Keep All”, and the list won’t clear until you close the chat. A similar report is here: AI Agent file review list accumulates stale files and doesn't sync with git status

The team is working on a fix. As a temporary workaround, close the chat or restart Cursor to clear the list.
