Multitask shows "View Plan" when agents are not in Plan mode

Describe the Bug

When using Multitask mode with multiple agents running in Agent mode (not Plan mode), the bottom multitask status panel incorrectly shows a “View Plan” button for each active agent.

The agents are actively working (e.g. “Thinking”, “Reading files”) but the UI presents a “View Plan” affordance as if the agent were in explicit Plan mode. This is misleading — there is no plan to view because the agents were never switched to Plan mode.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open a chat in Cursor IDE.
  2. Enable Multitask mode and start 2+ parallel agents (in Agent mode, not Plan mode).
  3. Give each agent a task and let them start working.
  4. Observe the bottom multitask status panel (“N Working” bar).

Both agents show an orange “View Plan” button even though neither was put into Plan mode.

Expected Behavior

The “View Plan” button should only appear when an agent is actually running in Plan mode. For agents in Agent mode, the status panel should show the current activity (Thinking, Reading, etc.) without a “View Plan” button.

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hi @Netanel,

Thanks for the report! I attempted to reproduce this issue, but wasn’t able to.

When you click into the subagents, do you see any plan creation? I’m trying to narrow down whether the issue is:

  1. These agents created a plan when they shouldn’t have, or
  2. These agents didn’t interact with any plan tools but are still displaying the “View Plan” button.

Any additional details would be greatly appreciated! Would be super interested to know if you can make it happen again.

The agent didn’t create any plan

The view plan is only a UI bug, nothing functional.

When pressing the the View Plan button it just direct to the subagent conversation.
