New Customize panel makes MCPs harder to manage

Feature request for product/service

Cursor IDE

Describe the request

Since MCPs moved into the new Customize panel, managing them has gotten significantly more cumbersome.

Previously, every server was visible in one scrollable list under Settings. Now I have to open Customize, select MCPs, click “Show more,” and then find the server I need. The extra steps add up when I’m doing this multiple times a day.

I like the grouping of healthy and errored servers, but hiding servers behind “Show more” makes it impossible to see everything at a glance.

This is especially painful when switching between multiple Sigma accounts, which requires re-authenticating the MCP server. That used to be quick and easy, but the new layout makes a frequent task feel unnecessarily tedious.

A few changes would make this much easier:

Show all MCPs by default
Allow users to pin frequently used MCPs to the top
Provide an option to use the previous flat-list view

I use Cursor and its MCP integrations constantly, so these relatively small interface changes have had a surprisingly large effect on my daily workflow. I’d really appreciate another look at how quickly users can access and manage their MCPs.

Operating System (if it applies)

hi @sacha_sade Thanks for the feedback.

A bit of context on the current behavior: the MCPs tab groups servers by status by default (Needs Attention and Connected), and when there’s more than one group, each one shows the first five servers before the “Show more” link. If everything lands in a single group, you’ll see up to fifteen before it collapses.

Two things that may help in the meantime:

  • The search field at the top of Customize filters MCP servers by name, so typing part of a server’s name (for example “Sigma”) brings it up right away without expanding the list.
  • The filter icon on the MCPs tab has view options. Sorting by “Most Used” moves your frequently used servers to the top of each group, and grouping by “Scope” can reduce how many groups you have. One caveat: those choices don’t stick between sessions yet, so you may need to reset them when you reopen the panel.

Hi, Kevin. I really appreciate you taking the time to respond.
Again, I do appreciate the grouping into Needs Attention and Connected. I do see the value in that. But still

  1. it takes too many clicks just to get to the MCPs
  2. it would be really nice to just scroll through them all like we used to with out having to click to ‘show more’ or to type names in a search bar in addition to all that clicking just to get to the MCPs. Switching from a bunch of clicks to get to the mcps, to the keyboard to type the name of your mcp and then switching back to the mouse to finish all the authentication, again is more friction than necessary and the sad part is that it is more friction than it used to be. this change was not at all an improvement.
  3. sorting should stick between sessions.
Please, please reduce all this friction that was introduced.
