Most people not happy about transparency and pro plan usage right now. Please, Cursor Team, Do something about these questions. No one wants to wait too long after 5 request for example…
In fact if Cursor was trying to give users a better experience, they could have chosen to increase the speed of the slow pool so that when we ran out of 500 fast requests, we could still get requests from the slow pool quickly, or they could have just increased the number of fast requests we had instead of flying the flag of being better for users with this vague new plan. Now they still refuse to be more transparent, apparently as a cost-cutting measure on their part.
rate limit perhaps still depend on you request consume .the system still record the request usage . if u want to see the agent usage ,u can see the json data.
@danperks @deanrie why are some users being limited after 5 attempts? Some reassurance this is a bug would go along way to cool tempers. Because a rate limit like that is totally unacceptable, to the point it almost feels like theft.
In my country you would get rightfully drawn to the court for changing prices like that.
It starts with the opt-in to a new pricing model by feault, not as an option.

No, I checked my usage, and it didn’t even exceed 170 requests in Claude 4 Sonnet requests, this is even before the removal of discounted request for this model.
I cannot use any claude model now. This is horrendous.

Then use my MCP Server. Before, when I was charged 500 fast requests/month, I used this tool to chat instead of the main chat channel. At that time, the toolcall limit was 25 but I could still chat quite a lot. Now, there is no limit on the number of toolcalls, so I can chat unlimitedly and only need 1 request (if there is no error with the AI model). But usually, if there is an error with the AI model, Cursor will not charge me for that request.
Now, with the new charging mechanism, I don’t know if the “chat via toolcall” method is still effective, but I have used it many times to chat without reaching the rate limit.
so far everything got far more expensive since yesterday.
- pro now is rate-limited + token-based (as for the MAX models) as it showed to several users, including myself
- rate limits are hit very quickly
- if you switch to the old model: the discontinued discount on claude models makes requests effectively 100% more expensive (even more if you look closely)
- a new ultra plan is offered at officially 50% the price per prompt but effectively, you are not only bound to buying a much higher contingent per month, but also, the price effectively is not lower (see #3: yes, I assume that ~80% of users here prefer Claude-4-sonnet-thinking).
so yea… that + intransparency in rate-limits is what we were left with over night. This whole thing plus the lack of communication by cursor shoves a lot of “Eat it or die” vibes into my face.

2.5 hours later and can’t do jack with normal models still, this rate limiting is a joke.
