In a relatively long chat (I know it is not ideal, but sometimes there can be quite a bit of back and forth on a topic), I see no way to refer to an earlier exchange other than copying and pasting it again. The exchange could be my prompt, thought/ clarification, or a response or proposal from the agent. There is not even a timestamp for each exchange, only something the age like 3d or 2m (old). I am not sure if I am missing anything or not doing something right, but it seems like something that could be useful (as we know, it is hard to keep trying to refresh the agent’s memory).
This should be a feature request, and I could see it being useful for sure. I even tried to refer to the request ID specifically in chat and it did not work.
Thanks! Should have mentioned that I also tried the request ID in the past and it did not work. The agent response was that they do not understand request ID. So there is a reference mechanism of sorts but it cannot be used for this purpose (actually, I wonder what it the purpose of the id is).
Again, I understand long chats can be inefficient or can slow things down, but sometimes it is hard to break the natural flow. Along those lines, having a proper search mechanism within individual chats can also be helpful.
I have only seen the request ID be used for support in regards to bug reporting.
Found a sort of solution with rules.
Create rule with
At the beginning of each prompt response, print out an iterated message ID and a timestamp. So something like
Message ID: 7
Timestamp: 8:00pm CST, 3/4/26
Then in action:
Clever! Thanks. ![]()
You’re welcome. I am still trying it out, and I’ve noticed it gets the time wrong most the time. I may have to play with the rule. Also sometimes it doesn’t show the request ID or timestamp, not sure if there is a way to make it follow the rule every time.
