As of maybe a week ago my IDE now just starts opening in agent mode by default. I have to manually click Editor after opening and it then no longer opens any of my pre-opened IDEs, which it used to before.
What’s the cause of this change and is there a setting I can adjust so that it opens in editor mode instead of ID agent mode? From what I’ve looked at so far, it seems like I’ve clicked to set the right one that it’s supposed to edit open in editor mode but it’s not doing this.
Hey, thanks for the report. This is an expected change in the latest update. Cursor now opens the Agents Window on startup.
To switch back to the Editor Window by default: Cursor Settings > Agents > turn off Open Agents Window on startup.
You mentioned you think you already set it, but it’s not working. If the toggle is off and Cursor still starts in the Agents Window, please confirm. That would be a separate bug with the toggle itself, and I’ll log it with your details. While it’s being fixed, you can switch via Ctrl+Shift+N or Command Palette Ctrl+Shift+P > Open Editor Window.
Let me know if that helped, and whether the toggle stays off after restart.
Editor window is gone as of the latest release. It’s not in the File menu, and it’s not in the command palette, at least on macOS. It can be opened with Command + Shift + N though.
Not really digging how you guys keep forcing the awful Agents window on me. Can I please just use the program how I want?
Can confirm that turning off “Open Agents Window on Startup” is not working on macOS as of the following version:
