OpenRouter everything?

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

The Open Router models don’t work for me; they require a Pro subscription. What’s the point of providing Open Router functionality if a subscription is still required?

Hey, this isn’t a bug, it’s expected behavior. Using your own API keys (BYOK), including OpenRouter, requires a Pro subscription. On the Free plan, only Auto mode is available.

More details in this thread: Cursor Free Plan: How to choose Gemini model with BYO API Key?

Options:

  • Upgrade to Pro ($20/mo). Then OpenRouter and other BYOK keys will work.
  • Stay on Free and use the built-in free models via Auto mode.

Let me know if you’ve got any questions.

Why does it work for them? And it worked before.
