Option to disable Slack status emoji reactions (✅) on messages that trigger automations

Feature request for product/service

Background Agent (GitHub, Slack, Linear,…)

Describe the request

When using the native Slack trigger (e.g. “new message in channel”), Cursor’s Slack app adds emoji reactions to those messages to indicate run status (:hourglass_not_done: while running, :white_check_mark: on success, :cross_mark: on failure), as described in the Slack integration permissions (reactions:write).

Problem

In some channels (especially product or leadership channels), those reactions add noise or change how messages look. The :white_check_mark: can read like an endorsement or “approved” signal rather than “automation finished,” which is confusing for readers who aren’t familiar with Cursor’s convention.

Request

Please add a setting (per automation, per workspace, or globally for the Slack integration) or allow configuring this emoji such as:

“Do not add status reactions to triggering messages” or
“Notify status only in thread / DM / automation log instead of reactions on the original message.”

Desired behavior

Triggers and runs behave the same; only the surface area in Slack changes (no automatic reactions on the message that fired the automation, unless the user opts in).

Why it matters

Keeps high-signal channels clean while still allowing teams that like inline status to keep the current behavior.

Hi @Sushant_Chavan

This should be possible for Automations!

I’ve just checked and it should be rolled out to everyone now. Can you check? :white_check_mark:

It works, but in a strange way. The hour glass emoji still shows up until the request is being processed and then disappears.

Hi @Sushant_Chavan!

Did you select No emoji and expect that there would be no hourglass or indicator showing something was in progress? I believe that we’ve configured it so that there’s always an in-progress indicator, regardless of your selection. I’d be interested to learn more about why you wouldn’t want that!
