But maybe the Cursor team is generous and will meet us halfway, so we’ll check if everything works well with Opus 4.6… ![]()
Sorry to disappoint — no promotional period for this model! Hope you’ll still try it out!
Yes, I’ll try it, but only a little because it’s very expensive. ![]()
4.6 Opus is not better than GPT-5.2 xhigh, I have tested

You need to enable MAX Mode via toggle on top of the list, Max version is just a different effort level
Hey everyone!
Opus 4.6 (fast mode) is now available in Cursor! It’s 2.5x faster and currently in research preview.
Pricing: $30 per million input tokens / $150 per million output tokens (6x more expensive than regular Opus 4.6).
For the next 10 days, it’s available at 50% off in Cursor!
Oh, finally there’s a way to spend over $10’000 a month in Cursor!
Opus 4.6 Fast + Composer is pretty nice in my opinion. Fast frontier intelligence in the main context, but lots of Composer subagents (at Composer prices) doing a lot of the heavy lifting.
This week I spent 6 days on a two-hour Minecraft project, and Opus 4.6 helped a lot on the second-to-last day of work. Honestly, I regretted being lazy and working on the project the old-fashioned vibecoding way, instead of using sub-agents. I didn’t expect at all that I would end up with several thousand lines of PowerShell scripts… ![]()
By the way, looks like I’ll have to use Opus to write a Commit Message for my last request…

UPD: real commit size

Claude Desktop immediately went into context compression - I’ll have to use Cursor ![]()
Sorry if this is off-topic, but it’s only when you use other tools that you really realize how much work the Cursor Team has done. I tried feeding this file to Codex-5.3 Medium in Codex CLI, telling it to read everything or process it in chunks of 2,000 lines. It goes: “Uh… there are 7,300 lines. That’s… a lot. This is a bit overwhelming. I’ll try to piece together a summary from different parts…”
I launch Cursor Codex 5.2 XHigh with the task to read the entire file in 2,000-line chunks: “AYE AYE, SIR! MULTI-READING INITIATED, SIR! HERE IS YOUR COMMIT MESSAGE, SIR!”
Looks impressive
3 posts were split to a new topic: Why does one message cost over 200 requests?
After seeing the pricing of Opus, I think I’m working for Cursor, not Cursor working for me.

Dude, they did the same think, and 5.3 better with high probability. Also don’t use medium.
Tried Opus high fast - not worth ist IMO. Does not really feel fast (like Composer-1).

wdym thats only one Cursor Pro + Subscription wiped in one request ^^
beware what happens when you misclick ^^
Would be good if it actually displayed “WILL TURN ON MAX MODE, dont be fooled by the 50% discount^^”
well 10 more days for the credits to replenish, see ya folks ahahhaah
It shows this when you first activate MAX
.
In general, it would be nice to earn $40k/month and give $20k of it to Cursor Anthropic ![]()
