Plan gets executed even if I didn't ask for it

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

I like the plan feature but as there is no handy way to save a plan in a file (because sometimes I just don’t want to execute the plan now but I want to save it for a later task), I am asking the AI to write it down to a specific (empty) file I created.

Problem: I’ve noticed that the AI tends to write the plan down but also to start implementing it even though I didn’t ask it to do it (cf screenshot).

Steps to Reproduce

  • Create a plan in plan mode
  • Ask the AI (I used Sonnet 4.5) to “write it down in @<file.md>”
→ it writes down the plan and starts implementing it

Expected Behavior

It should just write down the plan. It should NOT start implementing it.

For AI issues: which model did you use?

Sonnet 4.5

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey, thanks for the report. This is a known bug and the team is already looking into it. Right now, Plan Mode can sometimes jump straight to making changes instead of waiting for approval.

You can see the related report here: Composer 1 agent edits files in Plan Mode instead of only proposing a plan

The team is aware of the issue and is working on a fix.
