Hey, thanks for the report. This looks like a known issue with Plan Mode, but we need a bit more info to understand what’s happening.
We’ve seen a similar issue with Codex models (Codex struggles to write proper plan to-do's), but you mentioned “Auto,” which doesn’t tell us which exact model Cursor picked.
Can you help us debug?
- The Request ID from the failed attempt to create a plan (chat menu top right > Copy Request ID)
- Try explicitly selecting a different model (for example, Claude Sonnet 4.5) and create a plan. Do the todos work there?
This will help us figure out if it’s model-specific (like with Codex) or a broader issue.
