Plan mode on "+" button not possible to click

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor CLI

Describe the Bug

Hi,
I can’t click on “Plan” mode after clicking on “+” button. The button “Plan” is not possible to click on it. Others I can but not this one. The windows of different modes open in top of my window, maybe that’s the reason.

I have the last version of cursor CLI, and using Windows.

Thanks because that’s annoying.

Regards
Nicolas

Steps to Reproduce

Click on the “+” button in conversation with an agent, on windows cli, then try to select plan mode.

Expected Behavior

Impossible to click on plan mode. Mouse is not with the “link hover” like others and nothing happen when clicked.

Screenshots / Screen Recordings

Operating System

Windows 10/11

Version Information

can’t find it but that’s the last one

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey, thanks for the report and the screenshot. Based on the image, this is the Agents Window, not the terminal CLI. The + menu opens upward, and when it gets tall enough, the top item Plan ends up under the very top window bar that Windows uses to drag the window. Clicks in that area go to the window, not the menu, so Plan doesn’t show hover and doesn’t respond, while the items below still work.

Workarounds for now to get into Plan mode:

  • Press Shift+Tab in the chat input to cycle modes until you reach Plan.
  • Open the + menu, type plan, select the item with arrow keys, then press Enter.

To confirm the cause, could you try this:

  1. Maximize the Cursor window or make it taller.
  2. Open an agent chat and press +.
  3. Check whether the top of the menu still reaches the top window bar near the IDE button.
  4. Hover and click Plan.
  5. Let me know if Plan becomes clickable when the menu no longer touches the top window bar.

I’ve shared this with the team. I’ll follow up here if there’s an update.

It seems to be solved now! It works better. Thanks!

Failed, sorry I thought it was solved but not everywhere. You seems right, when my text is too high, the "plan " mode can not be clicked…
Thanks for help

Thanks for checking, that confirms the cause. From the screenshot I can see that when the text in the input gets taller, the + tray expands upward all the way to the top window bar (the one Windows uses for dragging). Then clicks on the Plan row get treated as window dragging instead of opening the menu. The rows below still work.

Until this is fixed, here are the working ways to enable Plan mode:

  • Press Shift+Tab in the input field to cycle modes until it switches to Plan.
  • Open the + menu, type plan, select it with the arrow keys, and press Enter.
  • As a temporary workaround, maximize the window or make it taller. Then the tray won’t reach the top bar and Plan becomes clickable again.

I’ve passed this to the team. I’ll post here if there’s an update.
