Yah, that’s true. In this case, we all talk about the price. If the price of glm 4.6 is more or equal to gpt-5 or claude 4, i think all of us here won’t discuss about this topic  Hope that Cursor team understand that …

The Cursor team has repeatedly said they don’t plan to add new AI providers anytime soon.
It’s most likely tied to their business model or policy decisions — regular discussions won’t change that, even if they get a hundred upvotes.

I think adding expensive models is more appealing than adding cheap models.

sounds like GLM is perfect for auto-mode - would like to try it out without having to install vscode + kilo + getting api. but if cursor team doesnt even react this is a clear sign for me that i need to get over my comfortzone

Indeed it does break them

I love FactoryAI with GLM

As much as I like GLM, as it’s open source, I feel we’re going to see a tuned version by Cursor instead (Cheetah could be something like this)

A fine tuned, self hosted GLM 4.6, Air, or even Kimi K2 would be a great candidate for “Auto” mode

sorry guys but.. why is this glm-4.6 so awesome?

The Claude code supports glm-4.6.

Auto mode has a specific purpose — to balance the load across premium model limits.
It’s no longer a free mode, and it can’t really be called a cheap one either.
That’s why it now relies exclusively on premium models: GPT-5, Claude Sonnet 4, Sonnet 4.5, and possibly Grok 4.

If Cursor ever decides to release its own model, it will most likely be fully free — similar to gpt-5-mini (within reasonable limits).

GLM 4.6 doesn’t need to be set to Auto Mode—you can choose to use it yourself.
