I noticed that the ability to save plans directly to the workspace (under .cursor/plans/) was recently removed. This feature was crucial for my workflow, and I would love to see it brought back.
Hey, thanks for the report. Good news, the Save to Workspace feature is still there, only the default changed. Plans now save to ~/.cursor/plans by default in your home folder. This was an intentional change back in December 2025, so if you updated from an older build, it might look like the feature was removed.
If you want to keep a plan inside your project, open it and click Save to Workspace. It’s the inline button on the plan card in chat, or in the menu (⋯ / CTA) in the plan editor. The plan will be moved to <workspace>/.cursor/plans/.
There isn’t a setting to change the default path to the workspace yet. The request is tracked here, feel free to vote or subscribe for updates: Option to save Plans in project-level .cursor directory

I’m using Cursor IDE, latest version: 3.10.20. When an Agent in Plan mode creates a new plan, the “Save to Workspace” button doesn’t appear (inline in the chat session). Please check
You’re right. The inline button on the plan card in chat is gone, but that’s a design change, not a feature removal. Plans now open in the plan editor, and Save to Workspace lives there.
Open the plan and click the … menu in the top-right of the plan editor next to Build. You’ll see Save to Workspace. It moves the plan from ~/.cursor/plans to your project’s .cursor/plans/.
One note. The item only shows up while the plan is still in your home directory. After you save it to the workspace, it disappears, and that’s expected.
If the item is missing in the … menu too, send a screenshot of the open plan editor and we can dig deeper.
