# Please clarify chat vs agent vs composer?

I feel like truly understanding these differences are critical to getting the most out of Cursor but they are not documented well. Can we dig deeper?

Is Agent really the best name? There is so much talk of “AI Agents” becoming automated assistants that will replace all of us in the job market but I don’t think that is what a Cursor Agent is… ?

Compared to the windsurf agent, this agent is simply too stupid to use. Moreover, is it really necessary to separate the chat and composer functions? I never use the chat feature. If the intention is to indicate that this is chat mode rather than write mode, they should really consider improving the functionality.
