It is one thing to push Grok 4.6 by making it the default model without asking, it’s an entirely different, more malicious thing, to turn it back on repeatedly and making it the default after I have explicitly deactivated it.
Like, what is this? I had turned it off multiple times, and after a couple of days it’s coming back like a cancer.
This desperate attempt at trying to push Grok on me is making me want to use it even less.
Please, just stop!
Hey @lloesche, thanks for the report, and sorry for the frustration here.
In Cursor Settings > Agents, set “Default Model” to “Last Used”. That turns off automatic model switching entirely.
Hey @lloesche, that explains it. That option was added in a newer release, and it looks like you’re on an older version of Cursor (3.11).
If you update to the latest version, the “Default Model” option will appear under Settings > Agents. Newer versions also respect the Grok toggle you turned off, so the re-enabling you originally reported should stop even before you change that setting.
