Pls tell us in advance of major UI changes on the upgrade button

We get upgrade requests weekly, fine, constant improvement, bug fixes, all good.
So most of the time its an easy decision to upgrade, as it might fix something that was already annoying.
But major UI changes without advance notice and instruction REALLY mess up your day.
I didn’t want to learn a whole new app today. I didn’t want to have to go on a treasure hunt for the chat I was in the middle of working on. You’ve made fundamental changes to the UI that I don’t seem to be able to re-arrange. So I’m forced to relearn how to use something I didn’t ask for.

Please just warn people if an update is a whole different UI. so we can at least make a decision not to upgrade until we want to waste a day figuring everything out.

Hey, thanks for the feedback. It’s a fair pain point. Getting a serious redesign with no warning and then losing a day relearning things is genuinely frustrating.

We’re discussing this internally. The team is looking at better ways to surface changes before an upgrade, something closer to a VS Code-style release notes tab after updating, or at least highlights in the upgrade prompt itself. There’s no ETA yet for specific flow changes.

For now, the full changelog is here: What's New in Cursor — Latest Updates & Release Notes. It’s worth checking before you hit upgrade, especially if the version number has a major bump like 2.x to 3.x, which usually signals bigger changes.

Also, if there are specific things in the new UI that break your workflow like something you can’t restore or drag back, or you lost access to a feature, please start separate threads. That kind of feedback gets on the team’s radar faster than a general complaint about the process.
