Provide an easy to understand indicator of relative model cost

Feature request for product/service

AI Models

Describe the request

Provide some type of indicator next to each model in the pick list(s) that gives users an approximation of the relative cost/consumption of the model. This could be red/green/yellow or 1/2/3/4 etc. Something simple and clear that shows which models, including the current model settings (context, effort, etc), are more or less API intensive.

Currently, I need to go to one or two websites to figure this out. When it affects billing, it really should be clear within the Cursor environment.

So when Grok 4.7 pops up in the list, I can see if it is relatively similar to Grok 4.6 without having to go to some web site and figure out the cost.

Hey, thanks for the feature request. Totally get the idea. You want to see a model’s relative cost right when you’re picking it, without having to check other sites.

This same request is already being discussed here: Add model pricing to “Switch Model” model item preview Add model pricing to "Switch Model" model item preview. I’ll merge your thread into that one so the votes and discussion stay in one place, it gives the team a clearer signal on demand.

While this suggestion is in progress, you can check current usage and model pricing in Dashboard > Usage and on the models-and-pricing page Models & Pricing | Cursor Docs. The picker already has some partial pricing hints, like labels for options that increase usage (1M context, Fast), but there isn’t a single cost indicator per model yet.

Let me know if you’ve got more details on how you’d like that indicator to look, and I’ll add it to the merged thread.
