Queries are not loading on updated version, but the same queries are loading faster on 2.5.26 version
Could you share a few more details so I can look into this?
-
What version are you currently on? You can check via Help > About in the menu bar.
-
What do “queries” refer to? Are these AI chat responses, code completions (Tab), agent requests, or something else?
-
What happens when they don’t load? Do you see an error message, a spinner that never finishes, or a blank response? A screenshot would help a lot.
-
What’s your operating system? (Windows, macOS, Linux)
If you can also grab a request ID from a failing request (three dots menu in chat > Copy Request ID), that will let us trace what’s happening on the backend.
It is on both Mac OS and Windows
One note on your screenshot: it shows the Agent panel (the “New Agent” chat area on the right), which is different from Tab completions. Tab completions are the inline ghost-text suggestions that appear as you type in the editor. Could you confirm which one isn’t working - or is it both?
That said, the fact that this happens on both macOS and Windows strongly suggests an account-level issue rather than a platform bug. A common cause is being on the free tier, which limits Tab completions to 2,000 per month. Once that’s exhausted, completions stop appearing until the limit resets.
Here’s what to check:
-
Go to cursor.com/settings and check what plan is shown. If it says “Hobby” or “Free,” that’s the issue.
-
If you’re part of a team plan, make sure you’re occupying a paid seat — being added to a team workspace doesn’t automatically assign you a seat. Your team admin can check this in the admin dashboard.
A few other users have reported the same thing - see this thread and this one for reference. In every case, the root cause was the free-tier Tab limit.
Let me know what your settings page shows!
User is part of team plan.
Thanks for confirming. Being part of a team plan and having a paid seat assigned are two separate things. A team member (or admin) can be associated with the team but listed as “Unpaid,” which means their account runs on free-tier limits — including limited Tab completions.
To check this:
-
Search for the affected user’s name
-
Look at the Role column — if it says “Unpaid Admin” or “Unpaid,” that’s the issue
The fix is to assign a paid seat to that user via the three-dot menu (…) next to their name on the Members page.
If you’d prefer help sorting this out or need to share details about specific team members, feel free to email us at [email protected] — it’s easier to handle team/account specifics over email.

He is a paid member
“Member” means a paid seat is assigned, so this isn’t a seat or Tab-limit issue. Apologies for steering it that way.
Given Tab worked on 2.5.26 but went blank after the update, the most likely cause is a Tab regression in the 3.x line that’s since been fixed in newer stable builds. 3.1.17 is several versions behind, so the first thing to try is updating that user to the latest stable release (Help menu → Check for Updates, or re-download from cursor.com) and testing Tab again.
If Tab is still blank after updating:
-
Open View → Output and pick the Tab channel from the dropdown. If you see lines like
Error in streaming cpp ... [not_found], that points to a specific bug we’ve already fixed in recent builds — updating resolves it. -
Otherwise, grab a request ID from a failing Tab attempt (or copy that output log) and share it so we can trace it.
If it persists after updating, email us at [email protected] and we’ll dig into that specific account.
Checked on the affected device, but we could not find the above mentioned error lines. Can you please help to get request ID?
