this bug is extremely frustrating, it’s making it almost impossible to keep using Cursor. Might even consider switching off because of it, files getting deleted all over the place

This is happening more and more for me. I have experienced it both on a brand new/untracked file and a tracked file. the proposed solution of “commit more to git” is a very poor workaround.
