Remote Control worker crashes on Windows: better_sqlite3 NODE_MODULE_VERSION 127 vs 137

Hey everyone, I said I’d post an update when I had one. The Windows worker crash caused by better_sqlite3.node built for NODE_MODULE_VERSION 127 while the bundled Node needs 137 is fixed in Cursor Agent CLI version 2026.10.16 and newer.

@Kamran_Sheikh @Milous98, the 2026.10.14 builds were released before the fix, so it was still reproducible there.

How to update:

  • Remote Control / Agents Window: fully close Cursor and open it again. The worker will download the new version automatically.
  • Standalone CLI: run the install again in PowerShell, then check the version:
    irm 'https://cursor.com/install?win32=true' | iex
agent --version
    The version should be 2026.10.16 or newer. After that, run agent worker start again.

For the worker on Windows, Git for Windows with Git Bash also needs to be in PATH. Without it, the worker may not pick up tasks.

@jiriritaism, the new version installs into a separate folder, so manually replacing better_sqlite3.node is no longer needed.
