Where does the bug appear (feature/product)? Cursor IDE Describe the Bug Remote Control sessions are successfully published and become visible in the Cursor web Agents page, but the local Windows self-hosted worker never becomes available. Cursor Desktop remains stuck at: “Setting up environment” …

Hey everyone, I said I’d post an update when I had one. The Windows worker crash caused by better_sqlite3.node built for NODE_MODULE_VERSION 127 while the bundled Node needs 137 is fixed in Cursor Agent CLI version 2026.10.16 and newer. @Kamran_Sheikh @Milous98 , the 2026.10.14 builds were released …

Hey, thanks for the detailed report. Your diagnosis is spot on. This is an ABI mismatch between the Node runtime inside the Windows agent-cli and the native better-sqlite3 binary, which makes exec-daemon crash and the worker exit with code 1 right after registration. That’s why it gets stuck on “Wai…

Thanks for confirming this and for passing the report to the team. That makes sense, and it matches what I was seeing locally. Since regenerating agent-cli reproduces the same ABI mismatch, I’ll avoid modifying the managed files or attempting a manual npm rebuild. For now, I’ll put the Windows Rem…

Bumping this, as I had the same issue. Following to watch for updates.

Hey @ThomsenDrake , thanks for checking in. Yeah, it’s the same issue described in the thread: the Windows self-hosted worker crashes on startup when launching exec-daemon due to an ABI incompatibility in the native better-sqlite3 module. This is an issue we’re tracking on Windows. There’s no user-s…

Same here. agent worker start dies on exec-daemon (better-sqlite3 ABI 127 vs 137). Local agent on PC is fine; Remote control / self-hosted worker is not. WSL isn’t a workable substitute if the repo and toolchain live on Windows. Adding another +1. Looking forward to a fix so I can use this featur…

Hey @akgc , thanks for the +1 and the details. Yep, it’s the same issue described in the thread. On Windows, the self-hosted worker crashes on startup when exec-daemon runs because of an ABI mismatch in the native better-sqlite3 binary (127 vs 137). So the worker registers and then immediately dies. …

Thanks @iamnhaan — your suggestion pointed me in the right direction, and I was able to get Windows Remote Control working. Also thanks @deanrie for confirming earlier that the root cause was the better-sqlite3 ABI mismatch rather than networking. In my current installation, the active agent packa…

Hey, thanks for the detailed follow-up and for coming back with results. Glad you were able to get unblocked. A couple important notes for any user who finds this thread later: replacing better_sqlite3.node is a temporary manual workaround, not an official fix. Like you said, the file lives inside …

Still broken on the latest Cursor CLI, 2026.10.14-0f9edde Adding another confirmed reproduction on Windows 11 x64, using Cursor Pro. Freshly installed Cursor CLI, authenticated successfully, then ran: agent worker start --name Quant-Research-PC The worker immediately fails during exec-daemon sta…
