I sent a chat message to an agent, then decided to cancel it. It looked like the chat was cancelled. I think the agent continued to think and started to edit my code, however the chat appeared as if it was blank. Now my code is super messed up and I have no way to revert the changes except to an earlier git commit.
Steps to Reproduce
Unsure; try sending a message and then stopping it?
First, recovery beyond git: Cursor keeps a local file history that’s separate from checkpoints. Right-click an affected file in the Explorer, choose Open Timeline, find a Local History entry from just before that run, and use Restore Contents. That snapshot predates the edits, so it often survives even when the chat’s checkpoint is gone.
What happened isn’t intended behavior and isn’t anything you misconfigured: the agent’s activity wasn’t showing in the chat during that run, so Stop cleared the turn (and its restore point) as if nothing had happened. We’ve let the team know and this is an issue we’re tracking.
If it happens again, before pressing Stop open Help > Toggle Developer Tools and grab any red errors from the Console. That would help us a lot.

While this was happening there was no stop button. It appeared as if it was an empty chat with no messages sent, and it was waiting for me to input a message to send..
