【Solved】Cursor AI is collapsing on my laptop

It’s been solved after closing the cursor and reopening it.

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

I can’t use cursor AI at all. After adding one description to “Ask” mode, it somehow turned “Taking longer than expected” and nothing changes until now.

Steps to Reproduce

Just add random sentences on the aks mode.

For AI issues: which model did you use?

Auto

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Yes - Cursor is unusable

Hey, glad it unblocked after the restart.

For context, this is a known issue on Windows in version 3.21. The message gets stuck on your machine before it’s sent, so your account is fine, and it affects Ask, Agent, and Plan the same way. The team is aware, and a fix is expected in a future release.

If it gets stuck again, one of these usually helps:

  1. Close all open editor tabs using Ctrl+K, then Ctrl+W, then start a new chat using the + button at the top of the chat panel.
  2. If that doesn’t help, open Ctrl+Shift+P, run Developer: Reload Window, wait about 30 seconds, then send the message again.

Another option is to work through the Agents Window using the Agents Window button at the top of the Cursor window. That issue doesn’t happen there.

Let me know if you hit this again.

Hey @Ryota_Ishigaki,

Quick update: the “Taking longer than expected” issue on Windows that you hit was fixed in a recent Cursor update.

Please update to the latest version. That should stop it from happening again after a restart. If you still run into it, reply here.
