[SOLVED] Delete not sending files/folders to OS trash

Hi, please find answers below, cheers:

:white_check_mark: Check the forum to ensure the issue hasn’t been reported already

  • The only post doesn’t solve this particular issue.

:lady_beetle: Provide a clear description of the bug

  • Right clicking on a file or folder in Explorer and selecting Delete (or using CMD+backspace shortcut) does not send the file/folder to the OS trash/bin.
  • Checked that this option is enabled in Settings
  • Tried toggling this off, deleting a file, toggling on again and deleting a file, nothing appears in the OS trash
  • Searched drive to see if these files/folders are being moved elsewhere, but no trace of them. Appears they are permanently deleted.

:counterclockwise_arrows_button: Explain how to reproduce the bug (if known)

  • See above

:camera: Attach screenshots or recordings (e.g., .jpg, .png, .mp4).

  • NA

:laptop: Tell us your operating system and your Cursor version (e.g., Windows, 0.x.x).

  • macOS Sequoia 15.3.2 (24D81)
  • Cursor v0.50.5

:prohibited: Tell us if the issue stops you from using Cursor.

  • No, I think Cursor is awesome, however it’s definitely uncomfortable knowing that an uncommitted/accidental delete can’t be reversed.

Just upgraded to macOS v15.5 and all files and folders that were deleted using Cursor Explorer have appeared in the OS trash!

Was it the upgrade or the restart? Guessing the latter, but I don’t know.

Leaving this bug report up in case anyone else has this odd experience.

(fyi, the original issue didn’t affect files deleted using Finder, they were visible in the trash)
