SSH repos on Cursor restart

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

When using many windows of Cursor connected to the same server via SSH, when Cursor is restarted for update, each window will try to update the “Cursor Server” on the remote server, concurrently

This leads to errors, sometimes with a pop up window asking to reload the window (I should have captured the screen)

I had the logs, but this forum page discarded all the content when I tried to create the topic (another bug, now on the forum engine. I reported separatedly)

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open many windows of an older version of Cursor, all of them connecting to a NEW remote server (Linode, Hetzner, Vultr, etc.)

  2. Quit Cursor (all windows at the same time)

Expected Behavior

No errors

Only one window should update this app on the remote server and the others could wait

I saw in the logs something like “acquiring lock” but it is failing anyway, many windows downloading the app at the same time.

Operating System

MacOS

Current Cursor Version (Menu → About Cursor → Copy)

This always happened, on all versions

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Can you please confirm if this is happening on the latest version?

Can you also please share any error logs?

Same error

Why does it downloads that “server” thing every fu**ng time, even if other windows have already done it???
