Does this stop you from using Cursor

Sometimes - I can sometimes use Cursor

Just prepare a screen session with superuser logged in

It then can read the output from sudo commands

Hey, thanks for the report.

Agent doesn’t support running commands that require sudo/root right now. I recommend using one of these options for now:

  • Settings → Cursor Settings → Agents → Auto-Run → select Ask Every Time and run the commands manually in your root session
  • Stick with your screen or external terminal approach

Let me know if that’s okay. I’ll create a feature request and link your thread.

Well, running commands one by one is not… agentic, and it increases costs and time as they count as new replies.

Sometimes you need root access for example tuning the kernel to a specific purpose, re-configuring services, settings or packages to change your fonts and themes in Cinnamon, detecting and installing all WiFi printers automatically, or providing Cursor with the ability to print PDFs.

Just wanted to share a possible reach-around and ask if maybe privilege elevation prompts are planned for the future.
