Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?
Cursor IDE
Describe the Bug
Can’t initiate a conversation with any model
Steps to Reproduce
Connected to Windows for Arm (Parallels) using OpenSSH for Windows. Tried to run cursor with cursor --disable-extensions but still nothing works.
Something to mention, I had to increase the Remote.SSH: Connect Timeout time from 30s to 120s in order to complete the installation of cursor-server on the VM.

I’m on Windows and I’m experiencing a v similar issue. I’ve been using a custom LLM and it just suddenly stopped working around 2:30AM (UK) on 1 Jan 2026. Using any other models provided under the Cursor subscription don’t work either…
I left the application and re-opened to find the below whenever I add a prompt:
Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?
Cursor IDE
Describe the Bug
Cannot chat and create code, stuck in “planning next moves…”, heres what I tried:
- Create a copy of the project folder and restart Cursor/ computer and open the project again in a different folder name. Still doesn’t work.
- Disabled extensions. Still doesn’t work.
- Checked usage limit - and upgraded. Still doesn’t work.
- Started a new chat. Still doesn’t work.
- Network settings to HTTP/1.1, diagnosed OK. Still doesn’t work.
Steps to Reproduce
Whenever I type in chat or open a new chat window to chat.
Expected Behavior
IDE, chat and agent should respond to my chat questions/ requests.

Only solution was to roll back to version 2.2.44. This was a recommendation from forum.
This helps…Thanks
Hi Dean Rie.. greetings from Ireland and Happy New Year.. I’m using it since Aug 2025 and do not have/use Git because the permissions are too permissive for my liking.. there was never any issue using Agent without Git but now in last 48 hours I have same issue as the OP “The agent execution provider did not respond within 4 seconds. This may indicate the extension host is not running or is unresponsive.” - so it will simply not work for me?

If you are on Windows, this should now be fixed. might need to restart Cursor to pick up the change!
Fixes for Linux and macOS are on the way.
Every day there are some updates but on Mac the same error and the chat (agent) does not work(
MacOS solution (not recommended, but works)
- Close Cursor.
- Press Cmd + Shift + G (Go to Folder) in Finder.
- Type ~/Library/Application Support/Cursor/.
- Find the User folder and rename it, for example, to User_backup (so you can restore it).
- Launch Cursor. It will ask you to log in as a “clean” user.
Yes, you will start with a clean slate (lost chat history but can restore it if needed) but it works!
- I also rename ~/Library/Application Support/Cursor to Cursor.bak.
- re open cursor ,log in and exit.
- copy Cursor.bak/User/Settings.json && KeyBinding.json.
- delete Cursor.bak.
maybe some one find Cursor/Settings file, we can backup it.
this is a long thread so I just want to double check the exact problem you are running into. are you experiencing the “Agent Execution Timed Out Error”? Can I also get the output of your Cursor > About Cursor?
Guys - the issue persists for >2 weeks. Unable to use agents. Please fix that.
In the mean time - going back to VScode.
hi @silentCoder. can I get some more information about your setup? Cursor version, platform, remote SSH or not, etc. we recently bumped the timeout for agent execution requests from 4 to 16 seconds to help with higher latency.
