I am running student of University of South Carolina Columbia. I went through the verification process as it says and eventually it says successfully verified in the SheerID verification page but when I check back in the cursor profile page, it still shows free plan, then I try to verify again its saying this:
Hello, after a few months of trying, I would love to give it a try again on my university email, but it says verification limit reached still. Could you please reset it on SheerID’s end so I can try again? I am a student at University of Utah.
Hi, I’m having the same issue with a Canadian university. It constantly says wasnt able to verify with passport and Driver license and sheerID says to contact cursor. Please assist.
Hi @condor My verification link got expired and now I am seeing this message - “We’re glad you’re enthusiastic, but it looks like you’ve already redeemed or attempted to redeem this offer.
Please assist me with this, I am a Canadian student from “University of waterloo“
“
Also having an issue. Can’t get enrolled with the edu email. I tried to register and got “Verification Limit Exceeded” but never got an initial email from SheerID or a link to register. I’ve gone through this with GitHub why is it so hard to register with Cursor?
I’ve also got a problem. I’ve gotten an email telling me that i’ve successfully passed the verification, but after opening the link from the email i get:
I also have the same problem to many ppl above, which after I scanned my passport, I received an email from Cursor to finish my student status (as per below snapshot).
But when I clicked in, it’s saying “We’re unable to verify you using the information submitted. Please check your information for accuracy, and only use your own mobile device or computer.”
FYI I’m an international student studying in Australia, but my government-issued documents are Vietnamese documents (since I am from Vietnam). I selected Australia in all of the cases it’s asking for the Country (since Vietnam is not on the list), including the box asking where the document is issued.
I’m trying to activate the student status benefit on my Cursor account, but the verification isn’t working. I’m only receiving automated responses from [email protected] that don’t resolve my issue.

I tried verifying using: academic email
Could you please manually review my account and help me activate student status/free Pro plan for students?
I’m a PhD student at a US university. I over the past month, I have tried getting verified through SheerID via my .edu academic email. Initially, after my ID documents got approved, I got errors when I clicked on the link in the email from SheerID to continue verification. Ever since, I have been receiving “verification limit exceeded” errors despite my student status not being shown as verified on my Cursor account. I have reached out to SheerID but they closed the ticket and said they weren’t able to help. Please let me know what other information I need to share for this to get resolved.
Student Verification Completed but Student Plan Not Activated
Hello,
I am currently enrolled as a student at two universities simultaneously.
My primary university is located in Turkey, and I have an .edu email address issued by that institution.
My second university is TU Clausthal (Clausthal University of Technology) in Germany, where I am studying under the Erasmus program, and I have a tu-clausthal.de student email account.
During the verification process, my Turkish university was not available in the selection list, so I proceeded using my German university account.
Here is how the process went:
My Cursor account was created using my .edu email address.
During student verification, I entered the details of my German university.
Verification via the tu-clausthal.de email was completed successfully.
However, the Student Plan is still not visible or activated in my account.
Could you please advise on what steps I should take to resolve this issue?
If required, I can provide official student certificates from both universities.
I went through all the steps up until the final verification of eligibility for the offer, all of my documents were rejected without explanation, including my official letter of enrolment, tuition receipt and account statement, all of which included my full name, student number, the date within 90 days, and the official university logo, signed by the registrar. It will no longer allow me to verify my identity as a student.
Hi There,
Would appreciate if the team could contact me via DM. SheerID support has not been helpful, the message I am receiving is Verification Limit Exceeded. I used passport to verify and I don’t know why I was rejected as a US student.
I have the same verification problem as everyone else. My student verification was already confirmed by SheerID, I just was unable to move to the next step in the verification process. I see that you are manually rolling students in? I would appreciate if anyone could get me in. Thank you.
I am trying to verify my student status to access the Cursor Pro student offer, but I am encounterring an error message: “Verification Limit Exceeded”. It states that I have already redeemed or attempted to redeem this offer, but I haven’t been successful yet.
I am logged into the forum and Cursor with my .edu email. Could you please check my account or guide me on how to proceed?
Just like everyone else here, the student verification didn’t successfully go through, and now I am getting an error message “Verification Limit Exceeded”. I haven’t redeemed the offer. I am using the same .edu email address for Cursor and the student verification.
I tried to verify my student status but the link sent via the email gives me “verification expire“. I used the “try again“ option and it displayed “Verification Limit Exceeded“. Can you please help me verify it.
On the structural exclusion of international students with .edu addresses in SheerID verification
I am a South Korean citizen currently enrolled in a US university online and I hold a valid .edu email address(@student.[college name].edu). Despite meeting all the strict criteria I have been systematically excluded and “sealed” by the verification process.
During the SheerID verification process the list of passport issuing countries did not include South Korea which caused the automated verification to fail. To fix this I contacted SheerID support and explained my situation in detail and said that I was ready to submit every required document including my certificate of enrollment my passport and my .edu email.
The reply I received was:
“Your verification request cannot be processed We cannot provide further details or support This ticket is now permanently closed”
After going through this I noticed two structural issues that overlap and block progress.
Verification errors and limit issues
In thread 133734 many users report that verification attempts fail and the system blocks further retries even when students try to correct mistakes or upload proper documents.
Lack of support for international identification and domains
In thread 133736 many cases show that IDs and domains outside the US are not supported. When the passport issuing country is missing or when the student email is not recognized students cannot even reach the document submission stage.
These two issues work together and prevent legitimate international students from completing verification.
Because of this the system effectively treats only students who live in the United States and hold US issued identification and a .edu address as eligible for the Student Discount. If this is intentional the correct name for the program should be “US Resident Student Discount.”
So I would like to ask the Cursor team:
Do you think the repeated failures in thread 133734 are individual mistakes?
What is Cursor’s position on the structural exclusion of international students shown in thread 133736?
Is there any official way to resolve this for blocked students such as manual review account reset or coordination with SheerID?
I am a legitimate student with valid documents yet I am treated as if I cannot be verified simply because the system does not support my situation. I want a clear response and a real solution for international students who meet the requirements but cannot get verified due to these limitations.
