Student Verification Issues

Hi,

I complete the verification all the way up to having a “Apply Discount” link in my email. However clicking on it just redirects me to the Cursor dashboard instead of a Stripe page as intended.

Can you please help with this issue? Thanks!

Hello, I have been trying to verify my student status with SheerID. I got past the identity verification phase, but then it wanted more documents, which I complied and uploaded, but it kept saying that the documents were insufficient even though they followed guidelines. Please fix this. I have contacted SheerID as well, but I would like to continue using Cursor. And now it won’t even let me attempt the process again.

@condor

Hi I tried verifying for the Cursor pro student discount and Sheer ID is unable to verify me. When I mail them they simply say that they are unable to verify me and close the ticket and when I reach out to the Cursor support team the email AI Sam simply says that there’s nothing he can do and tells me to contact Sheer ID support. Has anyone else faced this problem and if yes could someone please advise me as to how to move forward as being a student this seems to be a very frustrating cycle that I’m stuck in. I was able to successfully complete my identity verification but when I get the email to verify my student status and get the actual discount and press on the link to continue my verification, it says that they are having difficulty verifying me. @condor

Hello, I got verified by sheerID and got the email from them however when I click the “continue verification” button in the email cursor produces an error. When I try doing the process from the beginning it says the verification limit is exceeded.

@condor

I was able to get hold of SheerID and they reset it and now it is working

Hello Cursor Team,

I’m having trouble getting past the documents stage despite having documents that meet the listed criteria. I’ve tried my proof of enrolment and my tuition receipt, but neither went through.

Has anybody else had this issue before?

@condor

Hi Cursor Team,

I am a current student and attempted verification using a student .edu email as well as a government ID. Despite this, the verification process for the student process was unsuccessful. When trying again, I am getting an error stating, “Verification Limit Exceeded.” Could you please assist me with this issue?

Thank you for your help!

When verifying, It said it successfully verified, and when I clicked on the link it brought me to a webpage confirming that it was a success. However, about 10 seconds later the webpage text changed to say this error and try again later. I am confused because I was sucessfully verified, and very disappointed at cursor’s implementation of this.

Hi @condor and Cursor team,

I’m having the same issue and it’s extremely frustrating.

I’m a current university student and I completed all required steps:

  • Verified my .edu email

  • Uploaded a valid U.S. government-issued ID

  • Received an official email from SheerID saying “We have successfully confirmed your identity and you may continue verifying.”

However, when I click “Continue verification”, Cursor still shows this error:

“We are unable to verify you at this time.”

So according to SheerID, my identity is confirmed — but Cursor blocks me anyway and I cannot finish student verification.

I’ve already done everything correctly on my side. This looks like a broken handoff between SheerID and Cursor, or a stuck verification session.

Could someone from the Cursor team please:

  • Reset / clear my verification session, or

  • Manually review and complete my student verification?

This seems to be affecting many students here, and SheerID support alone is not resolving it.

Thank you.

Hello. When I used SheerID, I got an email with a link to finalize the student subscription, but I kept receiving an error. Now, when I try to verify via SheerID, it stated the amount of verifications has been exceeded. I have an edu email, as it shows in this portal, and I didn’t qualify, but now I can’t sign up. Please help!

Hi the Cursor team!

I tried verifying my student id with Cursor 2 months ago but it didn’t work. I tried to try again today but it said I’ve already redeemed or attempted to redeem the offer

Hi team, I’d like to add a data point that seems to be a system-level issue rather than an eligibility problem.

I’m an MBA student at Cornell University and using my official cornell.edu email, which matches my Cursor account email.

My student status was successfully verified by SheerID for other partners (e.g. Gemini and Perplexity), but when attempting the Cursor student offer:

  • On Dec 15, I received “Unable to verify”
  • Now shows “Verification Limit Exceeded – already redeemed or attempted”

I contacted SheerID support, and they confirmed they are unable to process this verification request for Cursor and closed the ticket, stating that this is determined by Cursor’s specific verification flow.

This seems to indicate that the verification attempt quota may be getting consumed even when verification fails upstream, which permanently blocks eligible students.

Happy to provide any additional details (student card, screenshots) if helpful.

Hi @condor and Cursor team,

I had a 1-year Pro subscription with education discount, purchased on November 5, 2025. But when I logged in today, my account shows as Free — no Pro anymore.

I found an unpaid invoice ($16.27) for usage-based API calls that’s 15 days past due. I think I accidentally turned on usage-based billing at some point. I haven’t used Cursor since December 23.

My questions:

  • Did my education Pro get canceled because of this unpaid invoice?

  • If I pay the $16.27 now, will my original 1-year Pro be restored?

Happy to pay the balance, just want to confirm it’ll bring back my subscription first.

Thanks!

I reached out to SheerID, and they permanently closed my issue with the reasoning:

“We are unable to process your verification request.”

Based on the other comments in this thread, it seems that this is a Cursor integration issue. Could you please look into it?

This seems to be affecting many students here, and SheerID support alone is not resolving it.

Thank you.

Hi @condor and Cursor team,

I am experiencing the same issue as the poster above.

  • Received an official email from SheerID saying “We have successfully confirmed your identity and you may continue verifying.”

However, when I click “Continue verification”, Cursor still shows this error:

“We are sorry, the page you requested cannot be found. The URL may be incorrect or the page you’re looking for is no longer available.”

Upon hitting “Try again”, I am taken back to the verification form and the loop begins again.

Hi @condor and Cursor team,

I am experiencing the exact same issue as the poster above. I am currently a university student. Although my email address doesn’t end with .edu, it ends with .ca and my friends have successfully verified theirs. The verification page gives me an error: “You have exceeded the maximum limit”, even though I submitted documents that had all the requirements needed.

I contacted SheerID and received the same generic email that “the ticket has now been closed”, even though there was no solution given.

Happy to provide any additional details (student card, screenshots) if helpful.

First time applying for the discount. I received an email that my identity was confirmed, but when opening the link to finalize the verification, I get this error. What do I do?

Hi @condor,

I encounter the same issue:

I have contacted the sheerID support but they said

“Hello,

I apologize for the delayed response, we are currently working through a higher volume of emails than normal.

Thank you for reaching out to SheerID regarding your Cursor discount.

We are unable to process your verification request. For further assistance with the Cursor Pro student discount, please visit the Cursor FAQ https://www.cursor.com/students.

As we are unable to assist with your verification request, this ticket will be permanently closed. “

I also contacted cursor support but they said

“Hi!

The “Verification Limit Exceeded” error indicates an issue with the SheerID verification system. Unfortunately, Cursor support cannot resolve verification issues directly - these are handled entirely by SheerID.

Since you’ve already contacted SheerID support and haven’t received a response, I’d recommend reaching out to them again at https://support.sheerid.com/en-US/681044b7729fba7beccd3565/help-center/student with details about the error you’re seeing.”

It’s my first time to apply. and it heavily affect me trying and ordering further plan. Could you help me to address this issue? I really appreciate it!

Thanks!

Hi @condor & team,

I’m running into an issue with student verification. When I try to verify for the student offer, I get a “Verification Limit Exceeded” message saying I’ve already redeemed or attempted to redeem the offer.

However, I haven’t previously used the Cursor student offer and I’ve never had a Pro plan on this account. This is my first time attempting verification.

Could you please help check what might be causing this and advise on next steps? I’m logged into Cursor and the forum with my student (.edu) email.

Thanks!

I’m having issues with verification. It’s saying the limit is exceeded. Thanks.
