Hi team,

First and foremost, thank you for being willing to give out Cursor for free; it has been an invaluable tool for me build research projects :slight_smile:

I am facing the same issue as others here. My cursor account uses my school email and I tried to verify multiple times leading to the limits being exhausted. Is there a known fix for this that I can try on my end? If not, I would love to have Cursor Pro as it is my preferred IDE (and would 100% convince my future team to adopt it as well).

Same as many others here, I got several verification failures and then was told the verification attempt limit has been exceeded. SheerID has ignored all my emails about this issue. Would really appreciate some help on this.

I’m getting the “We are unable to verify you at this time. If you believe you received this in error, please contact SheerID support.” error after submitting my driver’s license.

I am writing to report a persistent issue with my student subscription process.

I am a student at the University of Toronto (UTSC). I have been trying to claim the “1 Year Free of Cursor” offer using my school email, but I am stuck in a technical loop:

  1. The Error: Every time I try to verify, the system prompts that this email has “already been verified.”

  2. The Reality: I have never successfully redeemed the offer, and my account status remains on the Basic/Free tier.

  3. Attempts: I have tried multiple times to restart the process, but the “already verified” error prevents me from proceeding to the verification step with SheerID.

I believe my initial failed attempt might have created a “ghost” record in your system that is now blocking my eligibility. Could you please manually reset the verification status for my email or manually grant the student membership to my account?

Hi Cursor Team,

I recently got my Student Status verified, but it is not reflecting on my cursor account page. It still shows an option to verify my student status.
Also, when I availed the student discount after my ID verification, it still asked to opt for a payment method, due to which I chose a card payment as an option.

I was wondering how long would it take for the cursor account to reflect my student status and in addition, would I be billed an amount (as in, has the student discount been applied) since I input my card details for the payment?

Currently the issue with “Apply Discount” still exists. I’ve been able to reach out to SheerID customer service and get response within a day and no issue found on their end. Its been 5 months and the student verification issue still not fully solved here.

I would like to know what cause this issue and if it actually can be fixed. I know Google ends Gemini Pro discount for students. So if student verification is really hard for your team to workout, maybe you can simply stop making more confusions.

I have a problem verifying my student status because I study at New York University Shanghai. Is there any way I can apply for this discount even though China is not on the list?

Recently I tried to redeem the 1-year subscription using my .edu e-mail.

I did have issues with the verification, but after a couple of days battling the SheerID support, I managed to get it verified. I got a message from them that they did it manually, and I should get an email to finish the final step.

It’s been almost a week, and I still got nothing. I reached out to them, but all I got was that I should contact the Cursor Support. When I did, all they told me is that SheerID handles the verification and to talk with them. And so I’m stuck in this loop where both teams tell me to talk to the other one. I attach screenshots of the messages as well as my verification information.

I would really appreciate it if someone could help me resolve this issue since I’m starting to lose my mind from talking to what I presume are bots and automated responses.

Hi Cursor Team,

I am replying in this thread as per the instructions. I have a valid .edu student email address and I successfully completed the SheerID verification in Nov 2025 (I received the “Identity Confirmed” email).

When I clicked the callback link in the success email, it threw an error. Now, SheerID lists me as “redeemed” (preventing a retry), but my Cursor dashboard still asks me to verify. The success token was not passed to your system correctly.

I am logged in to the forum with my verifying .edu email. Could you please DM me to fix this provisioning glitch?

Hello,

I tried to complete my student verification with using various documents, but I kept encountering an error. When I pressed F12, I saw “BLOCKED_BY_CLIENT.” I use the Brave browser and then disabled Brave Shield and wanted to try again, but I reached the verification limit.

Can you help me?

I’m also stuck with the same issue most people here in the thread are facing, as observed.

I’m currently a student at an American university, and as such, I uploaded the information and documents requested by SheerID (.edu email, Government ID, Semester Fees Receipt, Spring 2026 Semester Schedule, and Student ID). However, I do not know why, but they were unable to verify my student status with these documents. This is what came up on the verification site:

Error

We had trouble validating your ID. Please contact SheerID support.

So I did as they asked, i.e., contacted SheerID support, and got the following reply from them, without any kind of further prompting/verification from their side:

Thank you for contacting SheerID regarding your Cursor Pro student discount. I am sorry to know about the issue you are facing.

We are unable to process your verification request. For further assistance with the Cursor Pro student discount, please visit the Cursor FAQ https://www.cursor.com/students.

As we are unable to assist with your verification request, this ticket will be permanently closed.

Hi @condor @danperks , and the Cursor team. I’ve been trying to get verified by SheerID to get Cursor Pro as a student. I’m super interested in using Cursor for academic purposes. I’ve been rejected multiple times from SheerID, but it’s worked for other platforms. I would appreciate any help from your side in getting verified for the Pro plan.
