Hi, I activated the student plan successfully (including sheerID) but still got charged for pro immediately after upgrading. Looks like a cursor-only issue that could and should be fixed ASAP.
Receiving the same issue. International student and I submitted the passport and I get the same error message. Already reached out to SheerID and it just goes into a feedback loop of giving me the link (with no feedback on what is wrong with the photo)
Hi I am having the issue that you mentioned towards the very end of your post about the stripe discount still not being visible. I have succesfully verified through sheerid but I am stuck at the stripe only offering 14 days free trial. Some help with this issue would be great, thank you! @condor

I have been trying to reach out to sheerid.com trying to get my self verified for the past 2 months.
This is the only thing that they have to say. Sheer ID either ghosts me or give me standard ■■■■■■■■.
I have a question for cursor. How stupid is it that you can’t verify a student with their student ID. If I have a student email and you send a verification code to that. And I enter that verification code in your website. Then It is pretty clear that I am a ■■■■■■■ student.
Please drop sheer ID as they are slow, slaggy and incompetent.
It is okay that I am not having to pay for it.
You are just loosing customers by having such stupid verification partners.
Most of the students who graduate will never buy cursor - reason: your stupid verification partner.
Please take this as a serious issue and work on fixing it.

Hi there, I signed up for Cursor using my .edu email. I verified my .edu email with Cursor. I then filled out my information with Sheer including my .edu email. I attached clear images of my id multiple times. Each time I get an email from Cursor saying “you’re almost there, click here to finish verifying” then I click that and it says error try again. Now it says I’m out of attempts. Please inform me how and can proceed with the Student Discount. Thanks.

I am reaching out because I have already submitted my school ID and passport multiple times for verification, but my account still cannot be verified. Unfortunately, I have now reached the maximum number of attempts.
I even sent clear, separate scans of both the front and back of my passport and school ID via email, using a document scanner to ensure perfect quality. However, I only received the same copy-paste reply telling me that you were unable to verify my ID and that my ticket was permanently closed.
Could you please help me resolve this issue? I have provided every possible document and need a solution so that I can proceed.

Seeing the many complaints, the amount of time passed, and the 0 outlook on resolution, I have the impression Cursor thinks of students as ‘freeloaders’. Unsurprisingly to us students, there are many of us in Fortune 100 companies that will now go “Cursor’s customer support is 0”.

Please DM me, I attempted verification all according to the appropriate steps. I have a standard .edu email at a well known school in the US, US Citizenship, submitted front and back Real-ID drivers license photos that are of clear quality. I don’t understand how it is possible to get this error of “Error We had trouble validating your ID.“
I’ve even received the email of successfull verification and even applied discount but no discount applied none refund recieved attaching screenshots
The same happened to me as well! I tried multiple times. I have uploaded my government-issued ID and passport. It failed to verify. Now it says limit exceeded. Sheer ID support team is useless. Maybe the AI bot would have responded better. I hope the cursor team can resolve the issue. Please let me know if you find a proper solution to this issue.

- Went through identity verification process with SheerID
- Got success email from SheerID confirming verification was successful
- Received confirmation email from Cursor stating activation is confirmed
- Clicked the “Apply Discount” button to activate Pro subscription
- Page redirected to Cursor but got stuck in endless loading loop
- Pro subscription never activated despite successful verification

I’m experiencing the same issue others have reported. I’ve attempted to upload my government-issued ID and passport multiple times, trying different lighting, format, and size, but I consistently receive the errors “unable to verify your documents” and then “verification limit exceeded.” I’ve contacted SheerID support twice without a resolution. This has been ongoing for two weeks.
Could you please advise on next steps or provide an alternative method to complete verification?
