Hey, this is a known issue. Right now, the selection in Explore subagent model isn’t actually applied. Subagents fall back to the Composer or parent model, so you’re seeing a different model than the one you set. It’s not just you, we’re tracking it. More details in this thread: [Explore subagent model doesn't work](https://forum.cursor.com/t/explore-subagent-model-doesnt-work/162113)

I can’t share an ETA for the fix yet. We’ll post an update as soon as we have one.

Hey, @HuaDe_Huang. Following up on this.

Since June, we’ve made a few changes to how the Explore subagent picks up the model you set in Settings, so it should now use your selection, not the parent agent’s model.

Can you do a quick check on your current version?

1. In Cursor Settings, set Explore subagent model to the model you want, for example, GPT-5.4 Mini.
2. Run a prompt where the agent explores the codebase.
3. Check which model is shown on the Explore subagent card.

If it’s now using the model you selected, no need to reply. If it still shows a different model, tell me which one you set and which one ran instead, and I’ll take another look.
