Subagents should have access to web

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

As per my chat, subagent is not allowed to use browser tools. Hence agent was not able to fetch docs, and started looking into library package directly which lead to errors. Some websites block alternative methods like curl.

Steps to Reproduce

Create a subagent instance which requires fetching docs from Vouched.id.

Expected Behavior

Subagent should be able to fetch docs from web

Operating System

MacOS

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Sometimes - I can sometimes use Cursor

Hey @Milind, thanks for flagging this!

Subagents can use web search and web fetch. When a subagent wants to fetch a page, the approval request shows up in the main chat, so if you missed it the subagent may report that it wasn’t allowed.

A few things worth checking:

  • In Cursor Settings (Agents → Context and Tools), make sure the Web Search and Web Fetch tools are turned on. Those toggles apply to subagents too.
  • If you want the agent to use the built-in browser, turn on Browser Automation in the Browser and Network settings.

If it still says it can’t reach the web, could you share the Request ID from that chat (chat menu > Copy Request ID)?

Hey Colin, thanks for the detailed reply. All the permission were enabled. I tried again and its working now.

Sorry for the inconvenience.
