Submit prompt with control+enter in composer

Also waiting for this. I’ve started using an external text editor to be able to write long, structured prompts, without risking sending it by mistake mid-way. But this has obvious implications, such as not being able to use @ to reference files and folders. Please Cursor team!

I cannot believe there’s no way to change the default enter key for submit, that’s very frustrating!

I’m with the hundreds of other people… Seems simple enough to have a setting so you need CTRL-Enter to send the message. It’s so easy to accidently try to go to a new line and now you’re sending an incomplete message.

Works in THIS box!

Hey guys, how’s it going on this? This is sorely needed.

I’m very surprised that such a simple feature is still not implemented. I get used to Ctrl + Enter in Gemini AI Studio or Jupyter Notebook, it would be great to have the same way to send message to chat in Cursor.

+1, excited for this

While we wait on the team to implement this, has somebody written an extension or something to get us by? I remember when I first got VSCode a while back, somebody very helpfully had written an extension that implemented the missing “Insert” key’s overtype behavior

Ping! This feature is so easy to implement, yet it’s still not there. I like the Cursor UX in general, but this is the most annoying “feature” of the IDE!

+1 on this feature, now that I can supply more info in one prompt w/ plan mode and better models, I’m typing a lot more into the chat box, and often multiline. being able to at least make this configurable would be super helpful

Does anyone consider switching to Copilot+VSCode? For me it’s so annoying in Cursor that I’m about to leave.

Vibe coded a temporary solution.

It replaces all the enters with ctrl+enter just so you know (terminal too).

If you are using it only for agents this won’t be an issue.

I’m moving off Cursor to Claude Code because of this annoying feature and lack of respect to the community.
