After completely removing cursor, including the application data and ~/.cursor directory and reinstalled it is working now.

Launched the app today and this is happening to me as well. Is there a fix in sight?
I would really like to not have to nuke my entire cursor env and lose all configs, mcps, themes, etc.

Confirmed that the problem is Plan mode being enabled under Beta settings. Disabling and restarting Cursor fixes it.

I cannot use Cursor since 2 weeks.

Hey, which version of Cursor are you using?
Early Access.
After your post I switched to Default reinstalled 1.7.12, but doesn’t work.
I tried to update it to the last version (still set at “Default”) but still not working.
I need we are even on the Team Plan.

I ran into the same issue and managed to fix it.
The problem occurs because Cursor recently introduced a new built-in Plan mode, which conflicts with any existing custom mode named “Plan.”
To resolve it:
Reinstall an older version (v1.7.12 or earlier) from https://github.com/oslook/cursor-ai-downloads
Delete your custom Plan mode.
Then upgrade back to the latest version.
That should fix the issue.
