Sync of keybindings and settings

I also want this!

How can I automatically get notified when this feature is implemented?

@danperks where are these so called extensions you are talking about?
I can’t find any, the only one I can find has been abandoned since 2019!

Agreed. The average sr dev uses multiple devices.

True. And it’s not just that though.

It’s only when settings sync works that I would normally make the editor my own. Some of the nitty gritty productivity tweaks seem hardly worth it if you have to redo them the next time again. Especially in 2025

Also allows you to reinstall your OS and sync settings back after.

Not to mention cloud instances if/when possible

I’d argue the sync feature is a huge deal.

Bump, still waiting for Cursor to have native settings syncing so I can finally start using it again! I work on a ‘work’ macbook and personal one, sometimes the same projects/code, sometimes not. I’d love to jump from one to the other seamlessly! With how fast AI is moving and how quickly products like Cursor are popping up, you’d like to think they’d want to get this implemented to solidify themselves as the ‘go to’ AI code editor solution.

This is literally the only major annoyance I still have with Cursor. Like many others, I use more than one computer to write code. I expect to be in the same familiar, comfortable, productive environment no matter where I work. VSCode does this easily. Punting this job to the user is so last century.

Is it possible to have sync setting, added AI model, chat history for same acc login across different device?

Albeit Cursor’s feature are quite impressive, the lack of settings sync in Cursor acts as a major stopper for many I guess. Or, at least, major inconvenience.
I think it is hard to implement feature. But still, if cursor team sees this, know: we need it

There are multiple threads regarding this topic already, here is one of them, with attached official response. TLDR: settings sync is not a prio :winking_face_with_tongue: unforch

thanks for the info.

Bumping this cause I also need it as well. I work very consistently across multiple devices

+1,suggest adding Cursor chat history synchronization functionality

save to gist: nonoroazoro syncing
save to gdrive: Syncing All Settings

[Settings Sync] not work well now

+1. I think that would be very useful. I switch between my desktop and laptop time to time.
If the settings were stored somewhere in a separate folder without being tied to the OS or something else, they could be synchronized through some Syncthing, but it seems to me that it’s impossible right now.

Hi team,

First off, I want to say how much I appreciate the AI rule system you’ve implemented — it’s a powerful way to customize the assistant’s behavior and align it with my coding style and project needs. It’s one of the features that really sets Cursor apart.

Suggestion: Allow syncing of AI rules across projects via account

Currently, rules are saved on a per-project basis, which makes sense in some contexts. However, in many cases, I want the same set of AI rules to follow me across different projects and devices. For example, I use a consistent coding style, structure, and conventions that I’d like the assistant to honor regardless of which project I’m in.

When working from different machines, or starting a new repo, having to re-enter the same rules repeatedly slows down my workflow and creates inconsistencies. It would be incredibly helpful if there were an option to sync rules to my account and apply them automatically (or optionally) across all projects I open.

Thanks again for your amazing work — the experience keeps getting better!

So is the answer “no”?

There is no official way of syncing extensions between devices?

correct, cursor is based on vscode and vscode does not support this, i write down ids of extensions and then install on new device based on what i written down. then i get settings.json and paste on new device. some cursor settings are not in settings.json so you have to manually check cursor settings as well. i personally would love full sync feature, not really for extensions, that takes 2 minutes, but for cursor settings to be all saved in settings.json
