Hey @truell20
What’s the status on this feature request?
Any progress on this issue?
Well thank god I didn’t subscribe before noticing that this feature was missing.
How is this not included to basic functionality of an editor in 2025? Guess I’m going back to VSCode cause what this thread taught me is that:
- not only does this editor not support syncing
- but also the community reps in this thread have not provided a single real solution but “there are extensions out there that do this”.
Can you point us to one that does support Cursor then? Cursor is beyond just VScode and we dont know which parts of Cursor’s settings are support or not.
The AI is great. After multiple months of subscription, I’m happy with it, but I’m leaving Cursor now. VSCode has always been free, removing such a basic feature and not being willing to replace it is not acceptable for a forked payed product. This has been requested since 2023 and is still ignored by the Cursor team.
yes its not acceptable, some free products has settings json export, its not very hard to implemente !
cmon guys. we really need it. give us a hope that it will be released in the near future
This is super important for me too. Does anyone know if there is at least a workaround?
hi @bagutzu there are several partial workarounds in this thread.
Here is one of them:
This, and the fact that much of the Microsoft VS Code Marketplace is unavailable on cursor is a huge problem tbh. Needs to be fixed.
Has anyone found or can give a step by step to copy the extensions from Cursor, I can export my profile but how can I manually copy everything else to set up a new machine?
Hey, you can copy your extensions to this path:
Windows - %USERPROFILE%\.cursor
macOS - ~/.cursor
Linux - ~/.cursor
In todays time Sync across devices should be standard!
For most users, setting/keyboard/extension sync is really a basic requirement!
upvote this idea
I just starting using Cursor and am I little surprised, that such a basic feature is not natively implemented. Would highly appreciate any effort to implement a settings/extensions sync option!
how come that this feature is missing?
