Feature request for product/service
Cursor IDE
Describe the request
Summary
Side browser is a first-class agent surface (MCP, position: side). Side integrated terminal is not: agent Shell uses a separate session, @Terminals does not appear in the @ menu (Cursor 3.21.x / Glass with terminal open), suggested commands often lack run in terminal, and ~/.cursor/projects/…/terminals/N.txt is an opaque snapshot that does not include agent runs.
I want Terminal Mode: copilot + shell as one auditable session:
- Inline — Warp / Claude Code style: reasoning, commands, and output as distinct blocks in one timeline (! to run).
- Split pane — Copilot on one side, live integrated terminal on the other, same execution stream (not a hidden agent shell).
Problem
- Two shells, one UI — users watch a side bash tab; agent runs elsewhere.
- No attach UX — @Terminals documented but missing from @ autocomplete.
- Cmd+Shift+L no longer sends terminal context (opens new chat).
- tail -f on capture files only reflects user typing in IDE terminals, not agent Shell.
Proposal (MVP)
- Per chat: bind a designated integrated terminal (e.g. side bash).
- Approved agent commands execute in that PTY; chat gets summary, terminal gets full stdout/stderr.
- Layout toggle: inline blocks vs split pane (same PTY).
- Restore @Terminals in all chat surfaces when terminals are open.
- On suggested shell lines: Run in bound terminal / Copy to terminal.
User stories
- DevOps: one scrollback for incidents; MFA/sticky env in the session the agent uses.
- Human + agent: type between agent steps; copilot reads terminal without paste.
- Parity with browser: if the agent can drive a visible side browser, it should drive a visible side terminal.
Environment
Cursor 3.21.18, macOS — side bash open, @Ter shows files/MCP only; /shell does not appear in side terminal.
Operating System (if it applies)
MacOS
