Hi team, I am trying to adjust my “Start” plan in the “Plans & Usage” section through the IDE on MacOS, but the “Adjust Plan” button doesn’t work at all. I have upgraded my IDE to the latest version as well, but that doesn’t fix it.
My machine details: Apple M1 MacOS Tahoe(26.5.2)
Steps to Reproduce
Click on “Plans & Usage” from the left sidebar and click on “Adjust Plan” button in Current Plan: “Start”, and observe that it does nothing.
Expected Behavior
Ideally, it should open a menu or redirect to a page to adjust my plan accordingly.
Hey, thanks for the report. One important thing: the Adjust Plan button doesn’t open a menu inside the IDE. It opens the plan management page in your external browser. From your description, it sounds like opening the external link isn’t working, so it looks like the button does nothing.
Workaround: open the dashboard directly in your browser: https://cursor.com/dashboard. In Billing and Invoices, you can manage your plan and subscription with Manage Subscription.
To help narrow down the cause, can you confirm if other external links from Cursor open for you? For example, the blue Upgrade button nearby, or the Docs links in settings. If those also don’t open, something on this machine is likely blocking Cursor from opening the external browser, like the default browser or system link associations.
Thanks for the screencast, it’s clearer now. I can see in the recording that clicking Adjust Plan opens the Files tab instead of a browser.
That matches what I mentioned earlier. The button doesn’t open a menu inside the IDE, it sends this link to the external browser: https://cursor.com/dashboard/spending?modal=plan-selection. On your macOS machine, the system is routing that https link to Files instead of a browser, so this is about how macOS handles https links (default browser or URL associations), not the button itself.
Quick workaround so you can manage your plan right now: open https://cursor.com/dashboard in your browser manually. In Billing and Invoices, use Manage Subscription to change your plan and subscription.
To figure out what’s intercepting links on your machine, can you confirm:
In System Settings > Desktop & Dock (or Default web browser), which browser is set as default? Does it actually open if you click a normal link in another app?
Do other external links from Cursor (like Docs links in settings, or the blue Upgrade button) also open Files, or do they work normally?
Once I have your answers, we’ll know if this is a local macOS setting or something on Cursor’s side. Let me know what you find.
