The Premium mode has disappeared from my model list, which prevents me from using my API quota.

I have the same problem as well.

Same

Same

Same as well.

Is this a permanent change, or just a recent mismodification?

Hi everyone,

We’ve sunset Premium Auto, so you’ll need to select an explicit model now.

To be clear, this shouldn’t block you from your API pool! Premium Auto drew from that same quota, so nothing changes about what you have access to. Just pick the model you want, and you’re good.

Hi Colin,

Can you tell us the main reasons to sunset the Premium Auto? Before, I can use some exellent models via Premium Auto, which can’t be directly selected due to the region restrict reasons. That is why I choose to upgrade my cursor plan. However, with Premium Auto sunset, I will get big troubles.

Best Regards

I share the same concerns. A temporary workaround at the moment is to disable HTTP/2 and route traffic via a proxy configured with a virtual network adapter to gain access to advanced models. The downside, however, is that the agent intermittently drops out mid-task.

I don’t want to pick a model and pay attention to stuff :smiling_face_with_tear: Premium auto was so smooth. Please bring it back.

yeah, please bring premium back.

Premium should be back, this is the key advantage of cursor comparing to other coding agent

I really liked Premium too - it was better at picking models than me

I have no idea why this was sunset either. This was the main mode by which I did my dev and I’m not particularly interested in burning the brain power to pick through the models. This was my favorite feature. All my devs used it as well. Why was this removed?

Nevermind. This forced me to move to opus 4.8. It makes premium mode look like an incompetent monkey that hsa been beaten over the head. I retract my question. For anyone else who gets here and isn’t particularly cost sensitive, just move to Opus 4.8

Dude, I’m not gonna lie, Opus is absolutely insane, but it’s so damn pricey. I’m on the $60 subscription plan, and a regular task will chew through like 10% of my credits.
Premium mode, though? It’s not only way snappier but also way cheaper. From what I’ve seen, it mostly calls Codex under the hood. Yeah, it’s probably not as powerful as Opus, but it gets like 90% of the job done. And the best part? I don’t even need to flip on a VPN to use it.
So Premium mode was way more valuable to me — it’s literally the first thing I recommended to all my coworkers. Now that it’s gone, even though the admins say we can still use auto mode, those of us stuck with regional restrictions can’t even access the advanced model APIs without a proxy. I think my original title was just too unclear, so the admins completely missed the point.
