I recently noticed that some users received official Cursor 50% off invitation links (for example, “Come back to Cursor for 50% off” emails).
I would like to know how users become eligible for this offer. Is it based on account activity, region, previous usage, or another criteria?
Many developers around me are interested in Cursor and would like to subscribe, but the full price can be a barrier. It would be great if Cursor could provide more opportunities for users to access these official discounts.
Could the team clarify how to get this offer, or consider making similar discounts available to more users?
The referral program that used to give 50% off to new users has ended at the end of July 2026. If you open the referral page, you’ll see This offer has expired. Referral discounts are no longer available. That’s expected, the program is officially over. Any already earned usage credits and pending activations will still be honored, but there are no new referral discounts right now, and we haven’t announced any plans to bring it back.
The Come back to Cursor for 50% off email is separate and not related to referrals. It’s an automatic targeted offer that goes to some users based on their account history, like users who previously had a paid subscription. You can’t request it manually, and the link is tied to the recipient’s account. Eligibility is checked on the server during checkout, so it won’t work on a different account. We don’t publicly share the exact criteria.
I’ll pass your feedback about making discounts more accessible for new users to the team.
But why do some people still get special offers? Is there a new policy? Can one apply for it? I’m not talking about system-issued offers for existing users, but rather the “free” offers for new users—like the sign-up bonuses that used to be available?
