# To change code folders in workspaces correctly \[edit --\> add folder\]?

for other reasons, i had to fix my storage and folder paths on disk. now i have broken workspaces all around in cursor. edit workspace doesnt work. adding new paths in workspace, it creates another worksapce on side panel without any agent… so will have to create a new agent and might lose the previous conversation history. [guess it will stay there in panel or i might archive it]

Hey @Aun_Ai! Nothing’s seems to be deleted. Your chats are tied to the folder path they were created in, so when a folder moves on disk they stay on the old sidebar entry. You can pull any of them back up anytime via Search Agents at the top of the panel.

For new work in the moved folder, just open it, start a chat, and bring your earlier context in with `@Chats`. To carry on an existing chat, right-click it and choose Move to (or ask the agent to move to the new path). If that throws an error, ask it for a quick handoff summary and paste that into a fresh chat.

The Edit Workspace part (adding a folder spinning up a separate empty entry) isn’t intended behavior, and it’s something we’re tracking. If you can share your OS and whether Save is greyed out or throwing an error, I’ll dig in further.
